Bare copper cables are specified in Vietnamese standard TCVN 5064:1998 on structure, materials and twisted specifications with the following basic contents:
1. Bare wire with concentric lay stranded conductors
A wire consisting of a central core surrounded by one or more layers of closely spaced yarns, twisted in opposite directions.
2. Direction of lay (alternative definition)
The torsion direction is defined as the right or left direction.
3. Surface
The wire surface shall be free from defects visible to the naked eye (correcting lenses are allowed) such as scratches, dents, etc., which are not suitable for commercial practice.
4. Joints
- On the cored wire and on any ropes, there shall not be any joints in any way, during the twisting process.
- During the torsion process, it is not allowed to weld a single aluminum wire in order to achieve the specified wire length.
- Joints shall be made by contact welding, contact welding and then cold forging or cold pressing (see note 1) and other approved methods.
